I am a Seattle author, editor and freelance writer.
I’ve written two gardening books, a bicycling guidebook (now in its 2nd edition), a business-leader’s profile and numerous articles for periodicals and web publications. I’m also a veteran book, magazine and web editor, and perform writing and editing duties for corporate clients. I’ve been working in these fields in Seattle since 1985.
I also teach editing in the University of Washington’s Certificate in Editing program, and give regular presentations and workshops on gardening, bicycling and writing topics.
I’m a ride leader for Cascade Bicycle Club, the “Get the Book to the Printer Guy” (aka managing editor) for 826 Seattle, and a Master Gardener for King County, Washington. I volunteer for a number of greening organizations, including Seattle Tilth, P-Patch and Plant Amnesty.
In January 2014 I was honored with the Sustainable Hero award from Sustainable Seattle, primarily for my work in 2013 on the Solarize Seattle: Northwest campaign, but they were kind enough to mention my biking and gardening books and other work that I’ve done for nonprofit organizations.
